PhD Josef Pöschl, Senior Economist of The Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies - WIIW

"The Centre for Strategic Economic Studies is a very active and highly successful organisation not only by Serbian, but European standards.

CESS is the prototype of a flexible and productive small unit thanks to a positive working atmosphere and correspondingly high staff motivation."

Daniela Grozea-Helmenstein, Institute for Advanced Studies - IHS and Vladimir Gligorov, The Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies - WIIW

"By providing high quality economic and social research output, CESS helps policy makers, regional government entities, business and academic leaders, and industry associations in Vojvodina to design policies and strategies for sustained economic growth and job creation and to quickly respond to the changing economic, social and financial environment in a globalized world."

Prof. Vassilis Monastiriotis, the London School of Economics

Jelica Minić, Deputy General Secretary and Head of Expert Pool of the Regional Co-operation Council

"CESS Magazine, published by Centre for Strategic Economic Studies "Vojvodina-CESS" from November 2007, is a forerunner of serious research of regional development in Serbia. Having in mind that some regional chambers of commerce (Uzice, Kragujevac, Nis, etc.) are on that same lead, it could be said that Serbia has spontaneously moved itself towards new obligations that are issued from the process of European integration. It has to be pointed out that the EU Regional Policy highly emphasises regional development in policy towards Candidates for EU membership as well as new member states. In the case of CESS, it is especially encouraging that local actors define research agenda, lead the research and identify policy measures that should be implemented based on the results.

Having in mind that in the last few years countries of the region participate in cross-border co-operation programmes which are supported by the European Commission, starting of research, popularization and basic information activities about regional development, which are done by CESS, can be of great assistance for identification of specific projects.

Wide connections with numerous significant institutions and individuals that are dealing with the topics of regional development, cross-border co-operation and European integration, represents a special quality of this publication and CESS as its publisher is opening a new, efficient mechanism of transferring knowledge and experiences from countries that are way ahead of Serbia."

Sonja Jovanovic, Director of Sector for Statistics of AP Vojvodina, Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia

"Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, Sector for statistics of AP Vojvodina, has started co-operation with Vojvodina-CESS during 2008 via lectures from mathematics and statistics, and in 2009 in econometrics that were held by dr Raimund Alt from the Institute for Economic Research from Vienna - Economica.

The programme of the lectures was extremely well rationalized and adjusted to the needs, interests and the level of knowledge of the participants.

The course fulfilled our expectations because we gained knowledge and skills that will be used in our future work.

Co-operation with CESS was very useful for our institution and we plan to further co-operate not only in the field of future education but as well in the aspect of giving support to CESS by providing data and expert knowledge from statistics."

Prof. Gyula Horváth, Director-general, Centre for Regional Studies, Hungarian Academy of Sciences and President of the Hungarian Regional Science Association from Pécs

"I am regular reader of the information sites of the CESS-Vojvodina. The activity of the Institute is highly appreciated; it has actual research programmes in strategic development of the province. Research materials published by the Institute are very informative, they have high professional quality. It can be underlined publishing the CESS Magazine which is a useful forum for exchange experiences of Central and Eastern European specialists in regional development policy. I do hope that the Institute will occupy a worthy position in the CEE network of regional development institutions, and it will be an important organization of regional science in Serbia."

PhD Miroslav Prokopijevic, Director of Free Market Centre

"Activity of CESS is recognizable and very useful in several areas.

Firstly, these are macroeconomic analysis, which facilitate decision-making to decision-makers in the Province and in Serbia. CESS has organized conferences and research with participation of the most eminent domestic and regional experts.

Secondly, these are analysis of local economic development and decentralization, which point out to different options in solving these issues.

Thirdly, it is the popularization of best practices and solutions in economic and political management.

It could be said that CESS has in its short existence has justified its mission and recommended itself for future assignments.
