Organizational culture as a competitiveness factor of the public administration 28 june 2010 Provincial Secretariat for Work, Employment and Gender Equality and Centre for Strategic Economic Studies „Vojvodina-CESS“ organized on 28th June 2010, in the premises of the Government of Vojvodina, a lecture under title „Organizational culture as a competitiveness factor of the public administration“. Dr med. Zoran Milivojevic held the lecture that was aimed to show the influence organizational culture has on the quality of work by the public administration.
The attendants were representatives of the public administration within the Government of Vojvodina. They were presented with some basic types of one society’s organizational culture, optimal patterns of behaviour and position Serbia has in this classification. The weakest point in our society’s organizational culture is, according to Dr Milivojevic, the perception of authority.
The representatives of Vojvodina’s administration were mostly interested in issues regarding relations between superiors and subordinates, how to deal with conflicts on work place, how to successfully cooperate without undermining hierarchy and one’s integrity, how to turn characteristics of our society into our advantage.
Considering that Serbia is in the process of accession to European Union, it is inevitable that new cultural patterns will need to be adopted by the public administration. Therefore, it is their readiness to improve efficiency and accept EU cultural patterns that the speed of accession depends on.
